The official site for Mai-HiME and Mai-Otome series has announced that Sunrise will expand the Mai-HiME series with a new project. No further details are given as of now except the new heroine will be named Mao. So far, the Mai-HiME series is considered to be less-expanded compared to its sister series, Mai-Otome. Mai-HiME only has two spinoffs, the manga and Mai-HiME Destiny novel while Mai-Otome has a sequel OVA (Mai-Otome Zwei), a prequel (Mai-Otome 0~S.ifr~), a manga, its manga sequel (Mai-Otome Arashi), and an ecchi edition of the manga. The HiME fans are expecting the new project to be an expansion of the HiME series rather than Sunrise’s another attempt to milk the Otome series.
